Superior Safety Performance/U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (2005)

R.J. Zavoral & Sons, Inc.-Ed's Construction - Joint Venture was commended for their outstanding performance and record of safety on the Heartsville Coulee Diversion project in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Since the award of the project in August 2004, R.J. Zavoral - Ed's Construction - Joint Venture and their subcontractors moved over one million cubic yards of earth, built 3.3 miles of levee and 6 road raises, and excavated 1.1 miles of diversion channel. They placed over 3,600 cubic yards of concrete, constructed 2 drop structures and a 150 foot span highway bridge. The project accumulated nearly 50,000 equipment hours and expended more than 77,000 man hours without incident or injury.  Completion of this project effectively protects the south end of East Grand Forks.  The St. Paul District’s Safety Award for 2005 was presented to RJ Zavoral & Sons, Inc. - Ed's Construction - Joint Venture in recognition of their safety conscious approach to construction.
